Student related activities

The Faculty of Engineering currently has 488 international students; 270 Undergraduates, 203 Postgraduates and 15 visiting/exchange students. The international students come from over 35 countries. Majority of them coming from countries in the Asia-Pacific region including China, Malaysia, India and Fiji.

The Faculty of Engineering pays a great attention to its international students and related activities. A system has been established to support international students, both on academic and non academic matters.

The faculty holds two parties per year for international students. The first party is organised for the second week of the first semester, and the second in the sixth week of the second semester. The Dean, Associate Deans, HoDs and representatives from each department attend these parties. The purpose of these parties is to welcome international students, to provide an opportunity for students to meet academic and professional staff, and for students to meet each other. The parties are very popular and well attended. The departments also organise a get-together/party with their international students each semester.

The above system has been specially developed for international students. It should be noted that international students are also encouraged to use the existing faculty helping systems through departments (HoD) and the Faculty (Dean, Undergraduate and Postgraduate Associate Deans, student-staff committee and class representatives).
