Oompher features Engineering Science graduate to inspire young Kiwis

29 May 2017

Engineering Science graduate Tamoko Ormsby has been featured in an episode of Oompher. The webseries, produced by Careers New Zealand, is aimed at inspiring young Kiwis by sharing stories of those “who have taken a brave step into the unknown [...] and have achieved or learned something extraordinary along their journey.”

Tamoko grew up in Ngaruawahia, and transferred to the University of Auckland after a year of study at the University of Waikato; this decision was based on the support offered to Māori and Pacific engineering students here. He graduated with a BE(Hons) in 2015, and now works as a Graduate Engineer at Auckland Council.

The episode reveals a glimpse of Tamoko’s role at Auckland Council, as well as his thoughts on what compelled him to choose engineering, the importance of his Māori identity, and his future intentions of giving back to the community. It is viewable on Facebook.
