Dr Sadiq Zarrouk re-elected to IGA board of directors
Department of Engineering Science Senior Lecturer Dr Sadiq Zarrouk has been re-elected to the board of directors of the International Geothermal Association (IGA).
This is Dr Zarrouk’s second term in the role, which he will be undertaking until 2019. Among his duties include representing the New Zealand Geothermal Association.
Founded in 1988, the IGA is a scientific, educational and cultural organisation, and a global authority on geothermal energy development, promotion, education and R&D. With over 5,000 members from over 65 countries, the organisation functions to encourage research into geothermal resources through the publication of scientific and technical information, with a goal to benefit industry, civil society, and the general public.
Dr Zarrouk’s position on the board additionally “opens more doors for the promotion of geothermal training and research programme at the University of Auckland, as well as further opportunities for industry engagement, collaboration, and access to international and UN funding in geothermal energy.”
