Engineering Science doctoral thesis honoured

Engineering Science graduate Dr Rupert Storey has been named as one of five recipients of the University of Auckland’s Vice-Chancellor’s Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis in 2015.

His PhD thesis, Large Eddy Simulation of Dynamically Controlled Wind Turbine Arrays was one of 17 nominated by faculties amongst the 375 doctoral degrees successfully awarded in 2015. All nominations are ranked by the judging panel according to the demonstrable significance in their fields, originality and excellence of the research, exceptional academic and intellectual achievement, and timely completion.

Dr Storey, then supervised by Dr John Cater from Engineering Science and Dr Stuart Norris from Mechanical Engineering, is currently lecturing part-time at the Department of Engineering Science.
